Services for Seniors

Arlington Heights Nurses Club Lending Closet

Arlington Heights residents of any age may borrow medical equipment from the Arlington Heights Nurses Club Lending Closet, located in the Senior Center. This is a free service; equipment and maintenance are supported through donations.

Caregiver Support Group

The Family Caregiver Support Program recognizes that unpaid, family caregivers provide the majority of caregiving in the United States. Caregivers help their spouses, parents, or other senior relatives with tasks such as bathing, eating, dressing, personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, transportation and financial management. This is a time to share with others who face the same challenges with caregiving.

Sponsored by Catholic Charities Northwest Senior Services, the support group meets the third Wednesday of each month. For more information, call Catholic Charities at 847.253.5500.

Escorted Transportation Service (ETS)

If you no longer drive (or know someone who’s physically or visually challenged and can’t drive), worrying about transportation to crucial medical appointments can really be a burden. Our suggestion? Stop worrying and call ETS/NW!

Escorted Transportation Service Northwest (ETS/NW) is just the program for you – one of our carefully screened volunteer drivers will pick you up at home, drive you to your appointment, wait with you, and then return you home again, straight away – no waiting or wondering if you’re at the right door at the right time (or if you’ve been forgotten about). Your volunteer will help you every step of the way. All we ask for is a $12 donation for each round-trip ride.

Whether it’s for chemotherapy or a simple blood test — any type of medical appointment — ETS/NW’s volunteer drivers are happy to help you. Our one-to-one escorted transportation program has helped hundreds of seniors just like you get to their vital medical appointments. Why not try our award-winning senior transportation program? We’ve provided more than 14,500 round-trip rides since 2006. For more information, stop by our office in the Arlington Heights Senior Center, visit, or call us at 847.222.9227.
